Book Description

16 July 2001
World-renowned performance consultant and sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella now offers The Golf of Your Dreams, for the golfer who is determined to get better but hasn't figured out how to go about it. Dr. Rotella's program is based on strategies found to be successful with four players such as Tom Kite, Brad Faxon, Pat Bradley, and Davis Love III. Dr. Rotella knows that if you want to play your best golf ever, you must admit to yourself that you want to be good and that you have the necessary talent to play well. But that's not all. You must commit yourself to a process that will improve your game. In The Golf of Your Dreams, Dr. Rotella provides tips on how to: Choose the right teaching professional; Communicate your dreams and goals to your teacher; Get your teacher to teach you as a student serious about improving; Break old habits and develop new ones; Practice efficiently and effectively so you can take your learning from the practice area to the golf course; The Golf of Your Dreams will make you keenly aware of what you have to do in order to play the kind of golf you've always sensed you were capable of playing

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book from Bob 30 Oct 2009
By Mr C.
Size Name:One Size Only|Verified Purchase
Another great little book from Bob Rotella, the sports psychologist that helped Padraig Harrington win his majors (not to mention all of the others he has worked with). Bob keeps churning out these books and I keep buying them! As with all of his books, this one is full of helpful pointers but you have to get past all of the cosy stories about some old guy giving strange lessons at a driving range in the back of nowhere. As with all of Bob's books, the message is the same:

- Golf is a game of mistakes so just accept it.
- Practise your short game.
- Practise your short game.
- Practise your short game.
- Practise your short game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget quick fixes - this is the real deal. 17 April 2000
By A Customer
Rotella builds on his previous books (Golf is a game of confidence / Golf is not a game of Perfect) and puts together a realsitic approach for anyone serious about lowering their handicap. This book, some time and money are all you need to improve your golf game to the next level, or wherever you want to take it. Forget books which claim to offer the secrets to golf, buy this, and book a series of lessons with your PGA professional - you can't help but improve.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another decent mental approach book to golf 2 Mar 2013
Size Name:One Size Only|Verified Purchase
Serious golfers should build their knowledge of the mental side of golf. It is ignored by 99.9% of golfers and their are several good authors that you must read, including Doc Rotella. This book looks at dealing with pressure, and will help you understand what you can do about it. Just another step on the journey to success.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scaping the bottom of the barrell. 7 April 2012

I really like Bob Rotellas work, I've read 'Golf is not a game of perfect' and loved it, I read 'Putting out of your mind' and thought it was a great guide into understanding the mental side of putting. Both books helped me a lot, I met Bob Rotella at the Open and told him so.

Alas, 'The Golf Of Your Dreams' is not up to the same standard. Problem is the subject matter, the entire book is pretty much devoted to giving advice on how to select a professional to teach you the game. Surely this is quite an easy thing to do anyway, without much help. You certainly wouldn't need a book to tell you how to select a pro.

There are a couple of pluses, I like the stories Bob tells about weird and wonderful golf pros he has encountered and his writing style is as easy on the mind as ever, the book is enjoyable and entertaining but it doesn't cover much ground.

I'm sure Bob Rotella will find many more interesting subjects to cover in future books and I look forward to them but this one, I'd recommend giving it a miss.
