As I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, I'm not really in a position to complain. Having started with a negative statement I suppose that sums up my thoughts on the book. I think I was expecting a 'magic formula' for backing horses, instead I am left feeling somewhat unfulfilled. The ideas of VDW are very dated and fairly obvious, perhaps at the time they were thought to be innovative. The book is nothing more than a series of VDW's letters in a Sports Forum and any subsequent replies from other readers. Being an avid follower of horse racing the book did at least keep my interest until the last page.
