Product Description

Product Description

After the death of Rose Marie Le Sant’s parents, Count Francois de Vallier becomes obsessed with his eighteen year old niece and thoughts of the vast fortune that she will inherit on her twenty-first birthday. But eighteen year old Rose Marie has other ideas and runs away, arriving in Marseilles and stowing away aboard a clipper ship bound for America.

The Captain of the Raven was captivated as well as frustrated by the beautiful, impetuous Rose Marie. From the moment Ross Chandler found her stowed away aboard his ship, he had desired her. But there had been other beautiful women in his life before, women who had betrayed him and Ross had vowed never to risk his heart again, not even for Rose Marie.

Ross and Rose Marie sail to San Francisco where they find love amongst the ruins of the shattered city. The Count is not far behind, though, and more determined than ever to have Rose Marie back under his control again, no matter the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clash of wills, strength in love, question of trust 5 Oct 2012

I loved this book. Could not put it down. Spellbound to the twists and turns within the characters. Who could not love Goliath? Ross and Rose Marie world's apart, strong willed, tainted by the past, haunted by betrayal, afraid to let the heart dictate and Ross blind to what everyone else could see. Rose Marie gets her man - oh what a man - I wont one of those!!!! - only in my dreams... read and let yourself be whisked away across the ocean and fall into the hands of lust, love and romance...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 26 Nov 2012

The Golden Rose is the 5th book I've read by Donna Oltrogge and it is by far my favorite. I love how Donna draws you in and makes you fall in love with the characters. One of the ways I judge a good book from a bad one is whether or not I think about the characters when I'm not reading the book. I finished the book a few hours ago and I can't stop thinking about Rose Marie and Ross. As I got closer to the end of the book I wanted to hurry up and finish so I could see what happened, but then again I didn't want it to end. I could not put The Golden Rose down. There were so many aspects of this book that I loved. Like how you are really able to see how Rose Marie grows up right before your eyes. Her relationship with Ross was so special. One moment he is so standoffish and the next he is sweetly kissing her. The Golden Rose is definitely a read again book. My only complaint would be not reading about Goliath and Chloe's story. I'd definitely recommend this book you will fall in love with Rose Marie and Ross.

I loved all the different characters. Donna wrote this book as Beatrice small, which is high praise. Loved it. Great read.

I really liked this complicated story of sea adventure. It takes us on a voyage around the Horn and up to San Francisco just as the earthquake hits. What a surprise when the bad guy shows his hateful self again..only to get what he has coming at the end.

I finished this book in two days, I hated to put it down to get a few hours of sleep. A wonderful love story. It really teaches a person a valuable lesson if they care to listen. Much can be prevented if two people will be honest, open and communicate with one another! It would prevent many tears and much heartache for both including preventing grave misunderstandings. A love story very well written! I truly appreciated the Epilogue .... Many stories leave you hanging for you to draw your own conclusions or you just always wonder what happened. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for including the Epilogue telling of each of the main characters.
