Book Description

7 Nov 2011

Have you ever asked yourself why you are on planet Earth? And what the ultimate purpose for your life might be? Well, Jack Canfield asked himself this very question and came up with a surprising answer - part of which included a vision revealing that he is part of a 'Golden Motorcycle Gang' - a gang whose intent is to have fun, but also to make significant contributions to the wellbeing of humanity.

During a joyful dinner many years ago in Santa Barbara, California, Jack told his friend William Gladstone about the Gang. Upon hearing this account, William had an epiphany that Jack's story held a powerful underlying truth not only explaining Jack's true purpose, but William's as well. For more than ten years, William encouraged Jack to write a book based on the story of the Gang, so they have now collaborated on this work to show you its relevance to this critical moment in the history of human civilisation... and also to you, personally. As you read, you will be introduced to some of the extraordinary members of the Golden Motorcycle Gang, including visionary thinkers such as Barbara Marx Hubbard, the originator of the concept of Conscious Evolution.

The mystery and adventure inherent in this book reveals that there is now the opportunity for all of us on planet Earth to make a quantum leap in real time toward choosing the actual course of our evolution. Along the way, we are meant to experience the joy that comes from recognising who we really are.

Perhaps, as you embark on Jack's journey along with him... you will find that you are also a member of the Golden Motorcycle Gang! So get ready for the adventure of your life!

Jack and Bill are men on a mission. A mission based predominantly on the 'Conscious Evolution' work of Barabara Marx Hubbard. Well over half the book is devoted to a somewhat rambling account of Jack's life to date. I was looking for so much wisdom from this experience and was left found wanting. Embellished facts (the book admits to this from the outset) over any real substance on how to apply life's lessons. Jack I know to be better than this. The book really starts to show its true colours when on page 95 Jack talks about the three requirements to be a member of his Transformational Leadership Council- basically that 1) You must already be doing something similar so this can be added to his existing offering (which rules out 99.9% of population) 2) You have to have your ego in check (something not very present in this book) and 3)...yes you've guessed it, you have to have lots of money! The rest of the book as the title suggests is all about `The Golden Motorcycle Gang'- basically an exclusive club of special beings (there are many times where the book treats this as a fact as opposed to the metaphor that it is) that are present on this earth to bring about peace and harmony for all. Yes! You've guessed it- Jack and Bill are members of this elite club.
The spirit of this book is based on an invitation for us all to become members of this 'club' which has as its main aim for as many people across the globe to focus on world peace for one `magical' day next year. Whilst the aim is honourable, this is spoilt by the continual ego trip of the authors and constant endorsements of their friends in the club. Here's the thing....most members of my `Motorcycle Gang' strive to focus on the positive every day and do not feel the need to shout about this from the rooftops.

I read this book in the expectation that I would learn some new nuggets of wisdowm. I didn't and I was surprised to find that he has been suckered into thinking that some marvellous event will take place on the 21st Dec of this year. I expected better from him. The whole story is just fantasy.
