I bought this album after hearing some of the band's instrumental stuff. The chilled, reflective atmosphere I was expecting largely pervades, but it is badly let down by the singer, who has serious difficulty staying in tune. This observation is not the result of pedantry: it is quite honestly a major distraction, and it lends the band an amateur feel on many of the tracks. What I don't understand is why a lot of the vocal lines weren't re-recorded, or failing that, why some brand of studio magic wasn't worked to tighten them up.
That quibble aside, it's a good listen, with the rest of the group putting in a much better performance. Only recommended for those without a sensitive ear.
