This is an amazing book for followers of fashion, designers, photographers, actually anyone who just likes to nosey about in the past. Inside you'll find outfits for day wear through to evening dresses and even some information about the couture houses and how they operated (looks like hard work).
I bought it as inspiration for my designs and have found the text to be just as interesting as the pictures. There#s just enough text to give you information about each of the houses. I also like the keys to each picture which, although simple, give a glimpse into the life of the outfit. It benefits from recent pictures from the dresses gifted to the V&A museum in London although I prefer the original photshoots.
I bought the paperback version which has a strong cover and the inside pages of good quality so if your money doesn't stretch to the hardback fear not.
I recommend this as a treat to yourself or for a friend who will love you forever for buying them this present.

A review had awakened an interest. The illustrations are of high quality and brought back memories of how we used to look in those days after the war years. The book is certainly good value for the money.

Format:Hardcover
I was given this for Xmas and it kept me enthralled for many hours. I am a designer myself and aspire to the standards of Haute Couture so it was truly a joy to have all the detail and personal stories brought to life. As with all V&A publications, the illustrations are of superb quality and the narrative engaging and well-written. I can recommend it to anyone with an interest in Fashion.

Golden Age of Couture
