5.0 out of 5 stars Goddesses galore, without any waffle 17 May 2004
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought Goddess Oracle in the same week that I bought the Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr. The artwork in both items is excellent, well-executed, soulful, uplifting. In both items, goddesses from various cultures are represented. Both the Oracle and the Tarot deck are accompanied with booklets-well, the Oracle booklet is more like a book, but not cumbersome and not written in the airy-fairy fluffy-bunny all-light-and-no-dark style I've come to dread.
Much as I like Tarot in general, I must say I prefer the Goddess Oracle in this case. Kris Waldherr in the Tarot deck gives us 22 goddesses as the Major Arcana. Well and good. But the pips are rather run-of-the-mill. Amy Marashinsky gives us 52 goddesses in her Oracle, many of which I had never heard of. There's Isis, of course, and Juno, Diana, etc-and I'd expect those-but the real joy for me has been meeting the less familiar goddesses, the Native American ones-well, some of them! there must be many-and Pele, who comes from Hawaai, and Vila, who is an Eastern European nature goddess, and so on.It's also interesting to find Baba Yaga here-not in her usual guise of fairy-tale ogress and eater of children but in her(presumably older) manifestation of powerful goddess incorporating and embodying the opposites of death AND life-a sort of Russian Kali. The art by Jana Hranto is superb.
.You can pick a card a day at random and meditate on it. Or go through the book and select a goddess whose qualities speak to your current situation or mood. Or. . . .? It's up to you. This book has suggestions in it but does not lay down the law or offer complicated and abstruse systems

5.0 out of 5 stars The Goddess Oracle Rocks! 4 July 2003
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you are a person who is interested in connecting with the Goddess in more than an archetype form, this Oracle can help clear the way! With 52 images of the Goddess spanning different cultures from American Indian to Greek to African to many others, various aspects of the Goddess are brought to life. Each card has a poem, mythology, meaning and a ritual/meditation to connect with each Goddess and set one on a path to wholeness in life. This Oracle doesn't say what one wants to hear, it says what one needs to hear. I highly recommend The Goddess Oracle by these two lovely ladies!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Deep Exploration of Goddess Wisdom 19 Sep 2006
By A. Baker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've owned this deck for years and have continued to find the lore, mediations and wisdom within to be both healing and revealing. The illustrations are beautiful, the poems are thought provoking, and the meditation journeys are transformative. I wish it would go back into print so more people could enjoy this unique treasure.

Beautiful artwork had well written guidebook. Over the years I have owned many tarot and oracle sets and this is one of two that I refuse to part with. The cards make an excellent focus point for meditation on particular energies. The book gives detailed information on each goddess.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely artwork, lovely energy 15 Sep 2011
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I actually had bought this deck a long time ago, but somehow the deck and book had been separated. So I came to Amazon to get a replacement book. Surprise, surprise, I got an extra deck with it. Great! I now have something to either do spells or crafts with.

The artwork in this deck is absolutely gorgeous. I fell in love with it pretty much on sight, which was part of the reason I bought it initially. Each image gives a wealth of visual information, unlocking further nuances to the goddess represented. This is further expanded upon by the book, giving each goddess a lovely piece of poetry, mythological background, meanings for the card/goddess, and a ritual/meditation to work with the goddess even more.

I haven't yet tried out the spreads listed in the book, but have loved all of the information I've gleaned about a variety of goddess, previously known and unknown. This is definitely a nice oracle deck to work with, and I've had some great energy work while dealing with it.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants something different from a standard 78-card tarot deck, or wanting to get more exposure to a wide variety of goddesses.
