Product Description

Damon Chroi has known the weight of ruling in loneliness for thousands of years. The tall, painfully handsome fae lord was born with so much power, the fae kings not only envied but feared him, and banished him to a forbidden realm to be forgotten. There, he was tasked with ruling over the deadliest creatures known to the fae worlds, and his veritable battle as their sovereign is never-ending. As one of the 13 Kings, his destiny foretells an end to his solitude with the appearance of an equally powerful queen. But that kind of power is hard to come by. And power or not, Damon can’t imagine any woman willingly joining him in the eternal misery to which he has been tasked.

Until he meets the beautiful, strong and selfless Diana Piper.

Diana has been hiding a potent secret from the world for decades. She was born with abilities others would fight to win, and kill to keep. To make matters worse, she is a sensitive soul who, despite the danger it poses to herself, uses these powers to make the world a better place. Forever in harm’s way, overworked and head strong, Diana one night comes across the ultimate challenge in the form of a wayward fae beast – and in the process, crosses paths with its indomitable king. A light can only shine in the darkness so long before someone takes note of it. And Diana not only manages to gain the instant attentions of Damon Chroi… but of those who would do anything to see him – and the other 13 Kings – dead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another King to fall in love with .... 27 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
.... and you really cannot help falling for his Queen too. As with other reviews I have written, I have to confess to adoring Ms HKW's central characters. I find them to be the kind of people I know exist in the real life - the kind of people who will put themselves in peril to help injured animals ... or to help someone in danger. The human race is in danger of combusting but, for most of us, we can only hope that it is still balanced ... at the moment anyway !!!!

This is not a stand alone book and to get the upmost enjoyment from these characters then please, PLEASE do read the Big Bad Wolf Series, closely followed by the Kings and I promise that you will become immersed into a wonderful diverse world of werewolves, witches, vamps and the like. Ms HKW does not shy away from her central characters having one or two 'not so nice' character flaws ... Malcolm Cole being one such character, an Alpha Wolf and the perpetrator of some rather dubious acts but ... sometimes, when an extinguisher won't work, then you've got to fight fire with fire.

I do love Ms HK's work but I do have to confess to wishing that there was a little more interaction, at least a few more coffees or dinner even, between the main characters before the 'big arrival/ claiming' scene but I totally understand that the Queens are being found and protected at all costs and as quickly as possible but .... I'm sorry Ms HKW, it's the romantic in me lol and I can't help wanting some more face touching and breathless kisses as well as some more ..... well, you know what LOL.

I hope, as with Evie and the other Queens, that we haven't heard the last of Diana (my namesake) and dearly hope that her new 'subjects' declare their undying love for her also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 24 May 2013
By Tanya

This eagerly awaited book was every bit as good as I hoped. I really, really tried to read it slowly, to savour every delicious moment but unfortunately it was so gripping I raced through it in one day!

The book picks right up where we left off last time and ends in yet another cliff hanger leaving you wanting more already. All my favourite characters were back along with the introduction of some new ones that I just know we're going to hear more of in the future.

Well done Heather on another brilliant book in this series, now hurry up with the next one ;-)

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many characters! 24 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am a huge fan of Heather Killough Walden and I have read all of her books. This is fortunate, as to understand The Goblin King you really should read, not only the other books in the Kings series but also the series before that, The Big Bad Wolf. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it is not a stand alone novel.
I did wonder as I read it if Ms Killough Walden had created characters in The Big Bad Wolf series that she was so fond of that it was hard to let them go, Dannai Caige and Lily Kane have significant roles in this series.

Diana, the latest potential Queen is a likeable enough character but we do not see enough of her, the relationship between her and Damon Chroi seems to occur over a 24 hour period. The coffee that they share shortly after meeting seems to be the only time that they have time for a conversation. The sex scene is a familiar one with this author, pain and pleasure combined.
I am confused by this book,as it starts with a large prologue involving a different Queen altogether. The Goblin King is reasonably short and sets up the story for the next two queens but perhaps they should all have been combined into one book? I will go on buying her work but I hope that the next instalment has fewer characters. I am all in favour of girl power and sticking with your friends but I there were too many friends in this for me!

I liked this story, it was colourful and full of drama and emotion. A good read that I found hard to put down, as all the 'The Kings' books are. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Goblin King 26 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another great read in The Kings series. I cannot wait for the next book. They are predictable in the fact they all are handsome, well built, men looking for women to be their queens who are equally as stunning as their mates. But I love the books all the same. If you're into all things supernatural then you will enjoy these characters. Heather has definitely found a way of keeping her readers coming back for more. I did not think after reading The Big Bad Wolf series I would enjoy another set of books so much but I have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I enjoyed the rest of the book's in this series but unfortunately I can't say the same for this one, the story was there but it felt like an add on, it was short and rushed.
