First introduced in sketches for the BBC s legendary radio comedy show Take It From Here, The Glums were reanimated for television by original writers Frank Muir and Denis Norden in this hilarious classic comedy. Jimmy Edwards reprised his role as the bad-tempered, beer-swilling Pa Glum, with Ian Lavender as his brainless son Ron and Patricia Brake as Ron s long-term, and long-suffering, fiancée, Eth; scripts were based on those of the original radio sketches. This set consists of all eight episodes along with the remaining short sketches that were used in Bruce Forsyth s Big Night.

Remembering a good comedy age 19 Nov 2011

We remember this series when it was on the radio and it was very funny then as we had nothing else to compare it with. Sadly, we now see it as slapsitck comedy but, strangely enough, being enjoyed by three of our young grandchildren - so it is still bringing laughter to another generation - but it is comedy of its era!!

this is a good 70s british comedy enjoyed it would recamend to other people to buy its not rude just daft and funny.

I recall watching this show way back in the 1970's and enjoying it immensely and was one of those shows that was never repeated. I hoped it was as funny as memory recalled and it's just as much fun as it was then.

Not as good as I remembered it. The radio series left a far better impression. This series had a very strong cast but failed to catch light.
