Amazon.co.uk Review

Over 50 per cent of people in the UK are overweight and/or obese. This is largely due to the fact that too many people like their food to be fast and fatty. Unlike other guides dealing with weight loss, The Pocket Guide to the Glucose Revolution and losing weight doesn't concentrate on calorie reduction, but actually offers advice on how to increase your food intake: "You can eat quantity, just consider the quality".

Using the glycaemic index (or G.I. factor - a simple ranking of foods based on their immediate effect on blood sugar level), the book lists foods that fill you up, without fattening, and keep you satisfied for longer.

But the authors insist this isn't just another diet book. Instead, The Pocket Guide to the Glucose Revolution and losing weight offers no-nonsense nutritional advice and analysis designed to help you control your appetite by being choosy about what carbohydrates you eat. The message, it seems, is you don't have to starve to lose weight. Or rather, "release" weight. "After all, to lose something, suggests that you hope to find it again someday."--Christopher Kelly

Product Description

When it comes to what to eat to lose weight, it is not simply a matter of reducing how much you eat. Research has shown that the type of food you give your body determines what fuel it's going to burn and what it's going to store as body fat. It has also revealed that certain foods are much more satisfying than others. This is where the G.I. factor comes to the fore. Low G.I. foods have two very special advantages for people wanting to lose weight:
1. They fill you up and keep you satisfied for longer
2. They help you burn more of your body fat and less of your body muscle.
This essential pocket guide includes a 7-day low G.I. plan for losing weight plus a complete range of low G.I. meal suggestions to help you keep the kilos at bay.
