Sheryl Crows' third and remarkable album seemed to ease her into commercial success once again. The catchy beat of "My Favorite Mistake," was sure to be a hit single. As well as the next playful lyrical riddle "There Goes The Neighborhood." Deeply the musical stories are incredibly truthful. If you listen to the album it reminds you of the same lyrical tone as Joni Mitchell's "Blue." She asks herself if she is getting through a relationship, getting through to her lover. `I am sweet, I am ugly, I am mean so you'll love me.' It is her most personal album to date. Here she talks about how the love of her life doesn't bring her "anything but down." She also hit's the nail on the head for any heartache record, by being self critical in the haunting "The Difficult Kind." She gives a nod to Bob Dylan by singing his "Mississippi." Conveniently the song also ties in with the records theme of knowing you`re going wrong. Again, Crow decided to produce the record herself. Here I criticise that it feels as if the tracks are thrown together in the album with no thought of how they should be placed. Some songs could have also been stronger than they are. However, four stars to Sheryl and company for her effort. The Globe Sessions is an amazing record to hear; adding itself to Crows successful body of work. Just when you think she can't be any more personal, she goes deeper.
