Book Description

3 Oct 2002
Several years after the events recounted in CHILDREN OF THE SHAMAN, Annat and Malchik's story continues in THE GLASS MOUNTAIN. Some semblance of normality has returned to their lives - but this is shattered when the crows return to Masalyar and it appears that dark shamanic forces are at work once more . Set in a world both familiar and fantastical, THE GLASS MOUNTAIN is a wonderfully atmospheric and refreshingly different fantasy novel that will captivate readers. 2.0 out of 5 stars What's with the french? 1 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
I got this second hand and I'm disappointed. the first book was pretty good, despite the odd flaw in the plot, mostly the bear tribe people. But this . . . it's weird. Things happen randomly convienant (flying ship in the nick of time) the 'evil' guy isn't really evil, just trying to live, (yes three people have to die for that to happen, but i think a lot of people would sacrifice others to have another chance at life, especially when that first life was lived under the control/possession of a goddess and not really his own) and what's with the french sentences? i failed french, and this is a book in ENGLISH so why french sentences that aren't translated? i have no idea what was being said. I liked the characters, as i did in the first one, but the plot is hung on a weak premise, they set off on their adventure based on another weak premise, the big evil is weak and nonthreatening and doesn't seem worth the effort of the book, and everything happens far too convienantly.

Just poor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 11 Nov 2003
Format:Paperback
This sequel to Children of the Shaman hasn't been published in the US yet but I just had to get it, despite the unfavorable pound:dollar exchange!

Rydill masterfully picks up Annat's story five years later, bringing back several characters, adding some new ones, developing each and every one into living, breathing individuals and sets them loose in a world even more amazingly realized than I had hoped for.

Highly recommended.
