Alex Tanner, Doland's investigative heroine, is totally believable. Feisty, smart and at home in the modern London setting. She's that cliched combination of 'tough but vulnerable' - without being cliched. The plot's got enough twists to keep you hooked, but not leave you baffled. Well recommended.
