This story provides a snapshot of life in China during the days of the last emperor, when the groundwork of the communist revolution was first laid.

5.0 out of 5 stars gripping and humorous adventure 20 Dec. 2013

THE GIRL MECHANIC OF WANZHOU is just the way I like historical fiction: with lots of adventure and humor mixed in. It's a book with many ingredients (Chinese history, poetry, bicycle mechanics, kung fu...) and a main character both girls and boys can relate to. Highly recommended for ages 10 and up (including adults).

This book is an amazing read for middle of high school kids. It's refreshing to find a novel that is set in such an interesting time period. I will send this to everyone I know, and recommend you do the same! Definitely worth your money :)
