Reviews

A deranged psychopath who returns from the grave in the form of a delicious but deadly treat. When psychotic killer Millard Findlemeyer (Gary Busey) entered a small-town diner and rained a shower of lead upon the Leigh family, the only family member to survive the horrifying ordeal was devoted daughter Sara Leigh (Robin Sydney). It was Sara's heartfelt testimony that sent Findlemeyer to fry in the electric chair, and also caused the killer's vengeful mother to cook up a diabolical plot for the ultimate revenge.

Not very good... 5 Jun 2011
By Will
Format:DVD
The best thing about this film is Robin Sydney who plays Sarah. She is gorgeous in this and a capable acttress. Otherwise it's awful. They obviously tried to make a movie "so bad it's good" but this is just so bad it's bad.

The Gingerdead man is every bit as awful as it sounds, the scariest thing about it is the fact Gary Busey has a small role and lends his voice to the 8 inch crumbly mad man. The plot is unbelievably thin, as others have said it's a kind of cheap Childs Play knock off.

A serial killer is executed via the electric chair only for his soul to enter a gingerbread man, it then wreaks havok on the sister, mother and friends of his last victims. The special effects are really poor, most of the acting is shockingly bad and the dialogue is up there with the worst i've ever heard, no people i've ever met talk or act the way these do. I did sit through and watch to the end, with the runtime being 70 minutes it isn't on long enough to get too boring.

I can't in good conscience give this film 1 star, as i'm convinced this is the first movie to have a gingerbread man yell obscenities at a rat. It's directed by Charles Band who brought us Puppet Master and Demonic Toys, poor movies but I personally found them much more fun.

If you're a serious film fan then avoid this like the plague, if you like movies "so bad they're good" then you might just love this. Believe it or not, this movie has 2 equally bad sequels. Gingerdead man 2 : Passion of the crust and Gingerdead man 3D : Saturday night cleaver. Definitely a love it or hate it movie, sadly i hated most of it.

An interesting film 11 Aug 2009

Given I laughed more than cringed, it's very hard to take this film seriously. I do believe their is a place for such material as The Gingerbread Man in 'good-bad-films', but since it's original purpose was to take the individual to the edge of their seat, 3 stars has to the best fairest rating since it provides entertainment for all the wrong reasons.

Favorite scene - Gingerbread Man manages to switch a cars ignition on and drive manically it to a helpless victim death. And yes, Gingerbread men do have legs that are only a couple of inches long. Hmm....
