Although Ginger Rogers is remembered chiefly for her films with Fred Astaire, in a career spanning over five decades she made some 73 films, and not all of them were with Fred Astaire! Her natural good looks and dancing ability marked her as a star in the making, becoming one of the leading ladies of Hollywood thanks to her performances with Astaire, but as the films in this collection show, she was also an exceptionally good actress.

I hadn't heard of any of these films when I bought the DVD Collection but at the price I paid it seemed worth the risk. Two of the three films aren't too bad: A Shriek In The Night and Heartbeat but the 13th Guest was unwatchable! Nothing has been done to restore the print and it is like watching the film through a neighbours net curtains - heavy ones at that! The sound was terrible and the aspect ratio all out of kilter: when the actors are standing you cannot see more than their chins! I am shocked that Elstree Hill were allowed to release the film at all.
That said the first two films are worth the price that Amazon currently have them at - The 13th Guest disc will make a handy drinks coaster I guess!
Enjoy the wonderful Ginger Rogers but just be aware that this is not a quality DVD collection.

Apart from their artistic mediocrity, these are, technically speaking, by far, the most awful DVDs I ever bought. Particularly THE THIRTEENTH GUEST, where Rogers'head is cut at the CHIN during 15 minutes. This so-called collection is an absolute shame

Amazon Verified Purchase
I can only echo Addy's review ("Shameful") 100%. This set is unwatchable. I am a great fan of Ginger Rogers but I am not even going to give this set to a charity shop for resale as I would feel guilty that anyone might pay money for it. It is worthless and will be consigned to the rubbish bin though I shall recycle the printed sleeves and the DVD cases. Zero stars, if that were possible, though minus stars for it being "not fit for purpose" and a complete rip-off.
