I really like this book, mainly for the recipes - I hadn't actually realised at first that this was a low carb diet. The "science bit" is kept very much to a minimum, giving you the basic info you need to get going with the diet and enjoy the delicious foods. There are a whole range of recipes and having tried several they are really great and not at all like diet food. I haven't tried the full diet plan but incorporated some of the principles into my everyday diet. If you want to read all about low carb high protein diets then buy the New High Protein Diet by Charles Clark, but if you want to get going straight away and start cooking nice meals then this is the one for you.

This book makes a lot of sense. To be fair even if you only take on board how to limit your carbs to under the recommended level every day - you will still get somewhere. I have read a lot about GI diets and it makes more sense than most of the other diet stuff 'out there'. It stands to reason - if you don't get hungry then you won't eat as much. I am one of those people who despite not eating much, eating healthy food and small portions was still overweight. People assume if you are 'fat' that you eat too much - this is not always the case. Carbs are the problem and this book will put it all into perspective. No calorie counting or weighing out endless grams! Good luck. I have already lost 20 lbs - for the first time in 15 years!(And I haven't even had to try that hard!)

Makes sense with all the science etc but its just too difficult to stick to in every day life, but I'm sure it would suit some people, just not me! Also, I think its aimed at much larger people, its a great long term solution if you're really overweight but not so good if you just need to lose a bit of weight for your holiday!
