Product Description
Ghost Breakers; Mary Carter inherits her family's ancestral home, located on a small island off Cuba, and, despite warnings and death threats, decides to take possession of the reputedly haunted castle. She is joined by radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence who, believing he has killed a mob gunsel, flees New York with his butler, Alex. Once on the island the threesome enter the eerie castle and after viewing the ghost of one of Mary's ancestors and fighting off a menacing zombie, they find the key to the castle's treasure but are interrupted by an all-too-human foe. Cat & the Canary; Ten years have passed since the death of millionaire Cyrus Norman. Relatives gather at midnight in a creepy old house for the reading of his will whereupon the local prison guard arrives to warn all assembled that a homicidal maniac known as 'The Cat' has escaped and could be heading for the house...

I have waited years for "the cat and the canery" to appear on dvd and when I saw it was avalible just before christmas pre booked it thinking at last i would have a pristine copy to own.Well! . . I have to say the quality of "Cat" is no better than the video copy i have owned for twenty years,the packaging is quirky at best and annoyingly difficult to open at worst (the fact the film is dated as 1932 on the back of the packaging should have forwarned me what to expect).The good news is the print of "the ghost breakers" is very good and to be fair for £15 the two films its fair value for money.So not bad value but I for one would have happily paid say £5 more and had a good transfer of "the cat". These two films are classic haunted house films in fact I would go as far as to say "Cat" is probally the greatest of all old house films.

The Ghost Breakers / Cat And The Canary [DVD]
Contrary to the reviews that say The Cat and The Canary is no better than the VHS.This edition is perfect.It has been cleaned up beyond expectations.We love these old films and decided to go ahead with the purchase anyway.Are we glad we did.It is such a pleasure to see such a clean copy and we are happy with both the films this was indeed a GREAT BUY.I would reccomend this double feature to anyone.

Classic Films and Bob Hope is one of if not the best comedian of his time - not to be missed even though films are old black and white.

well worth it
whilst the sound and picture quality of cat and the canary is not perfect it's still a great film and well worth the price
