Book Description

5 Mar 2009

A gripping high-concept thriller for fans of Dan Brown and Sam Bourne.

In the sunburnt deserts of eastern Turkey, archaeologists are unearthing a stone temple, the world's most ancient building. When Journalist Rob Luttrell is sent to report on the dig, he is intrigued to learn that someone deliberately buried the site 10,000 years ago. Why?

Meanwhile, in London, a bizarre attack is baffling the police. When a weird killing takes place on the Isle of Man, followed by another in rural Dorset, DC Mark Forrester begins to discern a curious pattern in these apparently random murders.

What weaves together these two stories is the Genesis Secret: a revelation so shocking it may threaten the social structure of the world. Only one man knows the secret, and he is intent on destroying the evidence before it can be uncovered.

Spanning the globe from the ruined castles of Ireland to the desolate wastes of Kurdistan, Tom Knox's intense and compelling thriller weaves together genuine historical evidence, scientific insights and Biblical mysteries into an electrifying tale that grips the reader mercilessly from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ripping yarns anyone? 16 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A number of people have already reviewed this, so I wouldn't nomrally bother. It is just that there seemed to be a significant number of those reviews complaining at the gory/torture scenes or the quality (particularly of the ending).

It is a historical fiction novel in the Dan Brown mode as you will probably have worked out. The story is well put together, it flows well, you want to know what happens and I related to all the characters (even the baddies). The characters are well fleshed out (until it gets removed in the torture scenes!!) - sorry had to throw that in.

Yes, there is some gore, but it is well structured and fits into the storyline, in my opinion anyway. Remember Robocop? The idea of building a robot cop was based upon the level of violence from the criminal fraternity - and to me there is a clear parallel with this book.

I won't go through the plot as others have more than capably accomplished that.

But a crucial question in my mind is always - Would I read an effort by Mr. Knox? - absolutely is the answer.

And you cannot have higher praise than that.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is true research from beggining to end 15 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought a pack of 3 books from ASDA and this gem was amongst them. What a truly inspired piece of writing. Tom Knox has obviously done his homework and research and written a book partially based on fact and scientific evidence. He also touches some rather controversial nerves with his thought provoking writing. His writing style, I found, is very deep and educated, but not snobby or biased in any way. He also pulls at the reality of being a hard working father who spends too much time away from home, which would hit home with many hard working people out there.

The story, or should I say stories are very cleverly linked so that it feels like you're reading two novels at once. Think of a Thriller and a Horror rolled into one.

I can recommend this book and will certainly be purchasing more of Mr Knox's scriptures in the future. Do your self a favour and buy it.

This is the best adventure book I have read in ages with huge dollops of the world's most deliciously hideous archaeology and potentially the best psychopath since Hannibal.

There have been so many conspiracy style books since Dan Brown unleashed the beast: the secret, the code, whatever ... this is probably the best I have read and I would recommend this thoroughly thrilling romp, set against some enticing parts of the world to anyone ... with a strong constitution.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit long winded
I enjoyed most of it but found it too bloodthirsty for my taste. Had to skip those bits. It was also too long-winded and needn't have dragged on. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Intrigueing Idea
Some of the plot moves seem really contrived and the characters are a bit two dimensional, but for all that links to recent archeology make it an entertaining read.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book of history and adventure .
I am interested in old stories and history. The story gets a little bit gory in places but is well worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read - although exceptionally gory towards the end.
Intriguing and incredibly interesting - learnt a lot from the book. The second half is however very gory and not for the faint hearted.
