From Dougie Brimson, one of the most controversial football writers in Britain, comes the first in-depth examination of the most misunderstood group of individuals ever grace the nation’s football grounds…

Football isn't all about players, tactics or even satellite telly. It's about a culture. A culture born out of the obsession, fanaticism and humour that is football fandom. The ultimate product of that culture is the Geezer. The sexist, elitist and abusive yob who, clad in his designer clothes, follows his chosen team week in, week out. Every club has them in their hundreds, but who or what are they? And just why do they do what they do?

From the Author

A little about my new, and favourite book to date.
Although I come from a comedy background, The Geezers Guide To Football is my first real foray into comedy writing and so far, it has been a huge success. The response from reviewers and public alike has been excellent.

It is true to say that this book is really the opposite of the others I have written. In those, I have looked at the serious side of being a football fan but as we all know, being a fan involves humour and laughs.

But rather than write a serious book, I looked for a way to do this one that would not only inform, it would entertain. In the end, I decided that the best way to do it was to take the mickey out of our obsession and that is what this book really is. A parody of the football fan.

I was reading this as part of a project, wouldn't say I was target market! However, this is a warm and funny book,'coaching' those young men who want to be part of the 'casual culture' community. In other words, top tips to help you fit in on the terraces, without getting yourself into serious bother, either with the law or the hooligans.

Dougie Brimson describes this a 'parody of the football fan',his first foray into comedy writing. As with all the best parodies, there is plenty of recognisable truth in the humour, This book really does make you laugh out loud - at the same time, you start to understand the human face of the football fan, and some of the perfectly natural and harmless motivations of this much maligned breed.

Although Dougie Brimsons book are usually serious, this is not a mistake you should make here because this is a work of comic genius. The observational and self parodying nature of the book has captured perfectly what being a football fan is really all about. It is, quite simply, the funniest football book I have ever read.

A frighteningly accurate reflection of life as a football fan and absolutely hilarious to boot.

Should be complusive reading for all new-breed fans and geezer-birds!
