5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and reliable. 1 Sep 2008
Format:Paperback
This book is written for medical students and junior doctors, but it is so good, it should have a wider public. It covers 48 topics, with two pages for each topic; line illustrations on one page and text on the other. The text is very clear and provides an excellent summary. The illustrations are also very clear and informative. As an author of books for the general public on digestive health,
Probiotics for Crohn's and Colitis
Coping Successfully with Ulcerative Colitis (Overcoming Common Problems)
Coping with Diverticulitis
I have used the book to check information on Diarrhoea and on Gastroenteritis. This was clear, and reinforced information I had collected from other sources. As a former Director of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease, I can confirm that the section on inflammatory bowel disease is accurate. Dr Keshav has done a superb job with this very useful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great last minute revision help 11 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
I'm a third year medical student and was struggling to get to grips with our NME module but this book was a bit of a life-saver. I used it for 3 days leading up to exams and it got me through nicely.

It sticks to the 2 page spread per topic and sometimes you want just that little bit more. Worth it though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for revision 26 April 2011
By Eleanor
Format:Paperback
This book is perfect for revision and for getting to grips with difficult concepts. Sometimes a little more detail might be good, however as this can easily be got from other more specific textbooks, I don't feel this is really a big downside.

The book is illustrated in black and white - I feel colour would have helped to liven up the (very good) diagrams a bit, but this does not affect their quality and they are still perfectly comprehensible.

I used it to revise for my first year medical school exams and I would highly recommend it to anyone in a similar position. It nicely summarises the more meaty textbooks, whilst explaining tricky topics clearly.

4.0 out of 5 stars GI system at a glance - Pretty decent 18 April 2009
By Schuyler W. Stone - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I got this book at the beginning of our unit on the GI in MS year 1. We are about halfway through and I honestly haven't used it that much. Like the rest of the at a glance series it is very concise and a good review after lectures but not as a primary source. If you are looking for a good review before a test then I definitely recommend this book. Not the best in the series by far but still a good review.
