A detailed look at the technical pattern simply referred to today as the Gartley Pattern

Gartley patterns are based on the work of H.M. Gartley, a prominent technical analyst best known for a particular retracement pattern that bears his name. In recent years, Gartley patterns-which reflect the underlying psychology of fear and greed in the markets-have received renewed interest.

This definitive guide skillfully explains how to utilize the proven methods of H.M. Gartley to capture consistent profits in the financial markets. Page by page, you'll become familiar with Gartley's original work, how his patterns can be adapted to today's fast moving markets, and what it takes to make them work for you.

  • Examines how to identify and profit from the most powerful formation in the financial markets
  • Discusses the similarities, differences and the superiority of the Gartley Pattern compared to classical chart patterns including Elliott Wave
  • Shows how to apply filters to Gartley patterns to improve the probability of your trading opportunities, as well as specific rules where to enter and exit positions

Gartley's pattern is based on a unique market position where most traders refuse to participate due to fear. This book reveals how you can overcome this fear, and how to profit from the most consistent and reliable pattern in the financial markets.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favourites 28 Aug 2013
By Moxie
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Although I do not trade the methodology describe in this book any more, it is still one of my favourite books and one that I keep in a special place on my selves.

If you are an "advanced beginner" looking for some sort of method to your trading, you could certainly to worse than follow this book.

It is clearly written, easy to read/follow and if you get it right could definitely help you one your way to be profitable.

If you have heard of Gartley and want to learn more about his method, I would definitely recommend this book to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for introductory level review of the Gartley pattern 22 April 2011
By matthew - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The book was "ok" overall. It does give you a brief psychology on trading and advice to have some kind of money management, but it was confusing at times the way he explained the Gartley pattern. I was disappointed that there were no specific targets to expect at the completion of a Gartley, such as 61.8% retracement of the CD leg, or the strength of where the completion would occur with different Fib. confluence or anything of that sort. I think the book could've been written in couple pages with the rules on what Gartley himself, Carney, and Pesavento regarded as a Gartley and some examples with the charts showing the pattern.

It is a good book as an introduction to the Gartley pattern but will definitely need to read some more information before feeling comfortable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gartley Trading Method 24 Oct 2010
By Bill Swan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
After waiting for some 3 months to get this book after it release I found it a very light publication and from that perspective somewhat disappointing.

It fails to really get across the Gartley Pattern in its bullish and bearish forms. There are better explanations for free elsewhere on the internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kudos to Ross for a book done well 4 Jan 2011
By Defcon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Ross Beck's book on the Gartley pattern and trading methods is straight forward and well written; one of the very best trading books I've read. And, I'm not keen on offering over-praise and am intolerant of most trading books where the authors do not take the time nor the interest to write clearly or adequately proof-read their works for errors. Mr. Beck weaves humor, intellect, and wisdom into the pages of salient definitions, methods, applications, and explanations. His command of the subject becomes obvious not by boasting or bloviating, but rather by the breadth and completeness of his book.

1.0 out of 5 stars fails to teach how to identify gartleys 7 Feb 2012
By trc4949 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Once again, another trading book that fails to get down to the meat of the matter and properly explain how to identify gartley patterns with real examples. too much filler material and not enough to the point material of how to draw and identify these patterns with real stock examples. plus the charts used in the book were horrible and lacked clarity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks Ross 26 Feb 2011
By Matt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I finished this book while returning home on a C-130 cargo aircraft. I couldn't put it down, and it sure helped pass the time.

I had taken some of Ross's online seminars a few years ago and wondered if I really needed this book. However, I'm glad I bought it because not only was it a nice review of some of the past discussions, but there are some updates (the difference between a trend reversal Gartley and a trend continuation Gartley) and more material as well (like a section on Gann). It was a great idea to include a chapter with case studies - examples of how Ross's trading methods worked out on several different trades.

Since I was first introduced to the Gartley pattern by Ross in those seminars, I also came across some other traders who trade the Gartley in their own way. I was very pleased to see that Ross included a summary and comparison of the methods of these and others who use the Gartley pattern.

I look forward to Ross's next book!
