Product Description

Orlando, the original Sloane-dog and intrepid gapper, will finally release his diaries to inspire other travellers to follow in his chunder-filled footsteps. From sleepless nights in Buenos Aires to charitable endeavours in Tanzanah, Orlando will give the low-down on the ultimate gap experience...Just back from his travels, our intrepid Sloane-dog wants to pass on the knowledge he has literally gleaned about the world's best cash-lash ratio hotspots, cultural landmarks (bars), and the ways of societies other than our own (shooting a cow in Cambodia). Rootling around Tarquin's rucksack, Orlando finds a battered guidebook - sadly all but completely defaced with chunder from one of their many heroic Pisco Sour, Margarita or Mai Tai sessions. So to compile the ultimate dossier of advice for the generations that will follow in his Ugg-booted footsteps, Orlando has snipped out the salvageable bits and interspersed them with pages from his own diary and a few other bits and bobs he's found on the net or in the lining of his bag.

From budgeting for your time away (mummy and daddy's credit card) and what not to bring (landmines - they've already got plenty over here, if anything, too many), to how to say 'vomcano' in Spanish, this is the absolutely essential spiritual, political and cultural guide to making the most of your gap yah.

Gap Yah Plannah 6 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
As an individual on a Gap Yah, and having seen the youtube videos, I felt inclined to give this a read. I was not at all disappointed; not only is the book continually witty and true to Lacey's satirical humour, but it is also oddly informative and interesting at the same time. Alongside the underlying playful jibe at a certain social group in this book is very engaging round the world journey. Among my favourite parts are his notion that "Australia basically has loads of random animals that will kill you", the top trumps at the end, and his genuinely hilarious comments on most things which generally include "banter", "LAD", and the letters "aaaaaaaaah".
Thoroughly recommended as a very uplifting and readable book, probably the best humour novel I have read in a long time. Worth the money.

Very very funny 30 Sep 2011
Format:Hardcover
Was given this book today....it is very very funny. The joy of the book is that it can be read in stages as the book is separated into the different countries Orlando visits. Well worth a read if this is your kind of puerile humour

Very funny 1 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
I have seen the Unexpected Items, Orlando's group of friends who perform comedy, a number of times and it is on this basis that I bought the Plannah, which has turned out to be highly amusing (like Orlando). (And the Items). Excellent stuff!

REVIEW.
This book has many pages. On these pages there are even more words. These words are literally organised in lines, really useful because books without lines ah hard to read. Read more

As I finished this 191 page treatise on the modern day raconteur, I turned to my travelling companion as he pawed at the book's illuminating cover with his withered stump of a hand... Read more

Empathy-free zone
Ok - there are many laugh-out-loud cameos within GAP YAH but, for a light-hearted spoof to really hang together, the author has to have an obvious underlying affection for his... Read more

I love the Gap Yah video and bought this for my younger brother who's in sixth form. I wasn't sure the humour would translate to a whole book but it's totally brilliant! Read more
