5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Wordplay 3 Jan 2012
Format:Hardcover
This has appeared in many editions and versions and is an absolute delight. It is educational but never dull, informative but never boring, interesting but never tiresome.
This tome covers everything from alphabetical poems to chronograms, acrostics to clerihews, anagrams to cumulative poems, acronyms to cryptograms - and that is just a selection from the two alphabetical sections of 'a' and 'c'.
A trio of brief samples from this excellent anthology:
Parody:
Hush, hush,
Nobody cares;
Christopher Robin
Has
Fallen
Down-
Stairs.

Pangram:
A quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Palindrome:
A man, a plan, a canal - Panama.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very positive review which laments the book's unavailability 29 July 1999

I am terribly sorry that this marvelous book is out-of-print! Willard Espy has collected a fabulously fun collection of anagrams, tongue twisters, vocabulary stretchers and verbal brain busters in this splendid volume. I have been trying to replace my copy of this book ever since mine was "borrowed" by an acquaintance and never returned! Word to the publisher: REPRINT! I'd rate this one six stars!

An incredible compendium of every form of word play known to man and womankind. I love this book and wish it was still in print. Right now I have to check it out from the library.
