Product Description

Product Description

An invaluable handbook for Mah Jong newcomers and experienced players alike, with fifty-one fully-illustrated hands.Although Mah Jong has been played by many nationalities through the ages, there are few books on the game. Some early books, translated from the Chinese, make hilarious reading and are virtually impossible to comprehend. Most books for beginners assume that the reader has some elementary knowledge of the game.

In this book, the player is introduced to every phase by a clear explanation accompanied by illustrations, which enable an easy step-by-step development of the game. Scoring is set out in simple tabulated form, with illustrations of scoring for specific hands.

About the Author

Patricia Thompson and Betty Maloney are well established experts in Mah Jong and have written several books on the game. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This is an excellent reference book. I play with a group of people just for fun, and we all use this book to help us choose which hands to go for. As a beginner I have found it an invaluable tool. The illustrations and lay out are very easy to use. Highly recommended.

Easy to understand instruction book for quite a complex game. The tables of special hands at the back are particularly useful. It's always beside me for reference when playing.

I am very happy with this product. I was a little nervous ordering a second hand book because I thought it may be quite tatty but this one has arrived in very good condition. As a beginner it's an easy to read, essential guide in learning to play Mah Jong - exactly what I wanted!
