It is hard to imagine any history narrating the dramatic turn-round better than this new book ... essential reading (Robert Fox Evening Standard )

A terrific book ... This clear-sighted analysis should be applauded for charting Petraeus's remarkable achievements in Iraq ... an authentic hero (Max Hastings Sunday Times )
