Interesting enough to read cover-to-cover, then dip into as needed. I found it inspiring yet practical, and despite the author being American it has tips and advice from freelancers/independent graphic designers all over the world. It's nicely illustrated too but offers much more than a 'coffee table' book. It covers all the everyday niggles: getting business, contracts, difficult clients, and managing finances. Well worth the money!

This book is brilliant, it helped me along every step of the way.
From the very beginning it strays away from the fairytale world of freelance and concentrates on all the important stuff (the true nature of freelance) and the idea of continuous effort. I read this book cover to cover and refer back to it constantly for business advice and even design ideas. I purchased several other books alongside this one to aid my switch to freelance, but after reading this i found most of them irrelevant.

I also recommend '100 Habits of successful freelance designers' by 'Steve Gorden jr' if you are just starting out.

I bought this book after reading some very enthusiastic reviews on it. Having now read the book I feel these reviews were somewhat misguided.

This is a good book to give a complete beginner an overview of what it is to be a freelancer however there isn't really anything here that you can't get from reading a few articles online or even reading some other freelancers blogs and sites like freelance folder, freelance switch etc.

To be honest I'd say save your money. This book won't really tell you anything you don't already know.

Liking this book seeing it gives a breakdown to the step by step processes of freelance working.
Just needed an enhancement of direction so I look more professional and can adhere to the codes of ethics.
Easy read and it's relevant!
