5.0 out of 5 stars A truly delightful story! 29 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
This became a firm bedtime favourite with both me and my 3 year old son from the very first reading! It is cleverly written in rhyme with just the right amount of repetition to encourage youngsters to join in. The story is a perfect mix of great plot, interesting characters, suspense, a twist in the tale and old-fashioned charm. The illustrations are truly beautiful and have real depth and warmth. I will be buying a few copies as gifts over the coming years I'm sure! If you're a fan of The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and others from the Julia Donaldson stables, then you will almost certainly become a fan of This Alison Green book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book with a great rhythm 6 Feb 2013
By A. Hird
Format:Paperback
My daughter loves this book. It is shorter than the Julia Donaldson books so is easier to read from a younger age as it doesn't take as much concentration. The illustrations are beautidully detailed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing kiddy book 25 Jun 2012
By Mike
Format:Paperback
2 year-old loves it as much as Julia Donaldson books. Doesn't come much more highly recommended than that.
If you have a 2-5 year-old who loves books, this is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book 24 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
First saw this being read on children's TV and we loved it and had to get it for our 2 little girls - it is a sweet, innocent, heart warming wintery tale perfect for bedtime, christmasy feeling, classic, simple and beautifully illustrated. Still a bit cheeky - the mouse is so scared he does a little wee on the floor. It has that 'sing song' rhythm and rhyming that makes it ideal for bedtime and it is a good length, not too long, a new favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book 22 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this for my grandson aged 2 years 8 months because he is fascinated by but also a bit scared of the idea of foxes. I was a little worried about the scary aspects of the book but took the risk that it would help him like foxes. He was instantly completely absorbed by the story and it is currently his favourite book - the last one before settling down to sleep. The story has everything that small children adore - drama, suspense, emotion, fun, phrases to repeat, excellent characters and beautiful pictures. There are lots of little extras which children relate to, like the little mouse weeing with fright and the lamb having to mop it up, which had him in fits of laughter. Of course it all ends beautifully, underpinning the importance of caring and sharing and that if things go wrong, you can make it right again. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic children's book! 9 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
My daughter (aged 4) was given this book for Christmas and has already asked for it to be read to her so many times that she can 'read' it with me. It is a charming tale well written with an equal balance of gentle anxiety and humour finished with a happy ending. As an added bonus I enjoy the story and am quiet happy that this has become one of our bedtime regulars. I highly recommend it.
