I stumbled upon this book years ago, and forgot about it. Then I remembered and decided to buy it. I really like the wisdom this book imparts. Every now and again, I'll look at it, and remind myself of its lessons. For example, the way of the warrior tells you to be present: to show up and do whatever you have to do 100%. This really struck a chord with me, because there are many things in life we might not necessarily want to do, but we still have to do them all the same. Like clean. Or work an occasional dull job. Instead of focusing on the fact that I don't really want to do it, I instead remember the above quote, and decide that since I have to do it anyway, I might as well do it 100% - that shift in attitude makes such a difference. Makes the task joyful actually, and makes me look good, because I've performed the task well. That is just one thing this book has taught me.

Purchasers beware that the audiobook listed here is NOT the audiobook at all, but is a podcast radio interview with the author. Not sure how this managed to find itself on sale here as the unabridged audiobook....

I only came across this book recently but I gather it has been around some time and I note that the author sadly passed away this year.

I found the book to be very well written with a mix of explanation and some very interesting suggestions for applying the ideas for personal use. It has come from the field of anthropology but has a very deep spiritual emphasis that honours the common themes of the world's indigenous wisdom teachings.

I would recommend it to anyone on the spiritual path.

I shall carry what I have read in this book joyfully with me into 2014, and act on it. I am very grateful to the person who introduced me to the writing of Angeles Arrien.

This book is brill for those interested in the Native American aspects of Paganism, but can be a bit boring and dull for those not. Those focused on more Oriental aspects just won't be interested.
