5.0 out of 5 stars A Functional and Effective Oracle 21 Aug 2002
Format:Paperback
I've used various oracles over the years like Ralph Blum's Runes (very good), or Tarot Cards (The Arthurian Tarot). But Derek Walter's The Fortune Teller's Mah Jong is perhaps the best for giving an all-around guide to one's current situation, and advising thereon. Other than prayer and meditation, oracles like this are the best guide through the waters of life! They help to geive you a clearer picture of where you are in your life. For this type of oracle Derek Walter's the Fortune Tellers Mah Jong is definatley my favorite...

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as complicated as it might appear 27 May 2011
By Mrs. T. Newton TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Derek Walters clearly explains what each card represents and how to read and relate their answers to a question either you or the querent may have. I found once I got past the idea of 'East' actually being geographically West (since the Earth is a mirror image of the Heavens), the understanding of the layout and the order each card became easier to interpret. Something this book taught me to understand better than any other. The original Chinese oracle, from which the Mah Jongg game evolved, is thousands of years old and like other ancient forms of divination such as The I-Ching, can get extremely complex for the reader if not handled correctly by the author. Luckily, reading the Mah Johngg Cards is much easier with Mr. Walters help and I successfully read the cards, which came out with an uncannily accurate predictions. The cards themselves are beautifully drawn in the traditional Chinese design. A great set of which I thoroughly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fortune Telling 19 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
If you want to be a fortune teller, this is the product. It has everything you need to know to read cards. Mah Jong cards are the Chinese equivalent of Tarot. They work as well or better. Most anyone can learn the system, which is explained in the book. Also, the cards are lovely.
