Having watched the recent drama of 'The Forsyte Saga' on tv, one of the main things that stood out was the soundtrack.
Set in the Victorian times, the music like the novel, is truly English in its style.
The many different characters, their moods and situations, are captured SO well in these 25 tracks - the romance, the sadness and so on...
Geoffrey Burgon's writing for the ensemble is excellent, packed full with lucious string writing and plenty of tear-jerking melodies! The piano writing, especially track 6, is also beautiful.
The singing from Sissel and Bryn Terfel is very good. Especially from the latter!
A great CD to have on when you want to relax and be able to listen to some 'light' classical music. A good choice!!
