Product Description

This cute story is about a tortoise that decides one day that he is tired of being slow. He takes off his shell, and starts off. Soon he discovers that he misses his shell for all the things it provided him: shelter, shade, and safety. He realizes too that he will never be fast, and when he finally finds his shell again, he gladly climbs back inside.

This story is told wonderfully, and in rhyme as well. The words flow well, and are fun to read out loud. The illustrations are Eric Carle's customary well-done collages. The cute story well told and with such fun illustrations makes for a great book.

Excellent 18 Sep 2010
Format:Board book
My daughter is 19 months and has developed a thing for tortoise as a family friend owns a real one (which she is actually petrified of...strangely). This books is really lovely, colourful and she likes to point out both the 'tortooooose' and the other animals in the book. Its a nice size and durable.

The story is quite long for a small impatient toddler intent on turning pages but you can adapt the tale as you read as the pictures are so clear. A good story and wonderful format.
Baby quite likes it at 17 months old as there are many animals to look at. I love it.
