5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh breath of spice 10 Mar 2009
By C.D.
Format:Paperback
The book gets 5 stars for the excellent recipes. The spicing of the food is exquisite and its only a matter fo time before a raft of Moroccan restaurants open in London.

There are a few things you need to do first - blend up some spices, make harissa, preserve some lemons and cook some quince jam. The last is really worth trying as some of the best receipes use quince. There is the usual range of tajines with lamb and vegetable but dishes like the fish soup with harissa are great. Apricots, dates, raisins and olives all feature in recipes and my kid and his friends seem to thoroughly enjoy a completely different taste.

A note to the publishers - the spines of the "Journey for Food Lovers" books are terrible and the covers comes loose when they have been used more than half a dozen times. Sort out the binding or give the purchasers a free tube of glue!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous.....a great Moroccan cookery book! 27 July 2010
By Mrs. N. Millican TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being half Moroccan, I have very fond memories of time spent in Morocco and the amazingly mouth watering food I've eaten there. I have had several Moroccan cookery books over the years but they've all been disappointing as for the most part the recipes have been "restaurant" cuisine as opposed to good home cooking. I was thrilled to see so many recipes included in this book for dishes I've had many times. It is beautifully illustrated and there are thorough explanations about different regions and traditions in Morocco. This is definitely one to keep in your collection as it's a real treasure trove of North African culture & cuisine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book as an introduction to Moroccan food 6 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this for my dad for Christmas as we had given him a tagine (moroccan cooking pot) for his birthday shortly before, to give him a bit of an insight into the food and also some recipes to cook in his new tagine.

The book looks great and is colourful and lively inside with lots of colour photos which illustrate the food being cooked which also makes it a nice book to read. The first section is about Moroccan food and gives some background knowledge about the food, where it comes from and the traditions in Morocco. This makes it an interesting book to read especially if you or someone you know is in to cooking. I bought it because we don't know much (nothing in fact) about Moroccan cooking and the colourful photos and vivid descriptions made it fun read while the vivid descriptions of the food's history and Moroccan culture helped us to understand the food.

The recipes are set out well with lots of photos which help to show what it should look like. The book is separated into chapters making it easy to look up a specific recipe. The descriptions are accurate and the methods are good.

Overall this is a great book for anyone who is in to cooking who wants to learn more about the food and culture of Morocco and for people who are looking for an easy to use colourful recipe book. I would recommend it to anyone!
