.....but the oxtail stew is literally to die for!! Just for that one recipe this book is worth it!! It is simple fare and the ingredients are easy to find for me (I live about 10 minutes from Germany)but I think you could find everything you need, or some very good replacements, in the UK without any problems! Very easy to follow; tasty dishes!

This is a beautiful, fabulous cookbook! 21 Sept. 2009
By Assunta Sciarretta - Published on Amazon.com

I love this cookbook! Of course, I never thought to get any of my Bavarian grandmother's recipes from her before she passed away, so for years, I've sought out great recipes for spatzle, stollen, red cabbage, German potato salad, hearty meat dishes and many others. This book has wonderful recipes. Every large page is filled with lavish photos of the food during the preparation stages and the finished dish!

I own many German cookbooks, and lived in Germany for 17 years. This is authentic and I can't wait to try the recipes.

Excellent German cooking! 22 Feb. 2013

Too bad, this book isn't available from Amazon itself! It is the best German cookbook I have ever seen, I ordered copies for about everybody for christmas. It shows modern German cooking and old recipes with spectacular pictures. The recipes aren't too fancy or difficult and actually recipes, I have seen and eaten in Germany. Absolutely awesome!
