This book is a very interesting and informative take on the myths, legends and folk-lore behind plants. Some of the references are a little lost in time, while others seem quaint and some plain outrageous, but overall it's a very enjoyable read for anyone intested in plants, their mythology, symbolism, or for the study of how they were used in previous eras as remedies and cures for all sorts of ailments of body, mind and spirit.

A good ramble 24 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a nineteenth century ramble through bits of plant lore. Sources are given. The author's focus is mainly British and European with some early anthropology of the 'Empire' thrown in. It is not an analytical book, and it is only loosely arranged but it is still a nice collection. Best fact - the poppies springing red on Flanders fields first appeared in popular lore from the blood shed at Waterloo, a century before the Somme.

First published in 1889, this still-unparalleled exploration of mythic and magickal plant lore from around the world includes chapters on Lightning Plants, Plants in Witchcraft, Plants in Demonology, Plants in Fairy-Lore, Plants and the Weather, Plants in Folk-Medicine, and much, much more. The Mythic & Magickal Folklore of Plants is a treasure house of traditional mystical, magickal and medicinal botanic information every 'Green Witch' should know.
