Product Description

All 26 episodes from the first series of the long-running, Australian medical soap that chronicles the activities of the Royal Flying Doctors Service. With little in the way of roads, and inhospitable terrain, a medical emergency in Australia's outback can literally be a matter of life and death. Step forward the doctors, nurses and pilots of the Royal Flying Doctors Service, who are on call at a moment's notice, to come to the aid of their fellow Aussie. Mainly focusing on daring flights to wilderness ranches and long forgotten watering holes, there are also, inevitably, a few colleague-love issues that rise to the surface as the team is stranded, for weeks at a time, at its base in the godforsaken town of Coopers Crossing.

5.0 out of 5 stars About Time ! 30 Nov 2008
At last one of my favourite EVER programmes. I loved The Flying Docs. What made the first five series so special was the on location filming in Minyip , couple that with a great cast and realistic storylines you got to saviour life in the outback. Due to rising costs , over a 100,000 Aus dollars to make an episode , all that stopped and filming was was more or else done on the outskirts of Sydney I think . In any case the programme did suffer that cutback in costs and the next four series were never really the same, series nine i felt was really poor. All in all 234 episodes over a nine series stretch were made and I hope they release all the series pretty quickly , even if they release only the first five i,d be happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Flying Doctors. Series One. 2 July 2009
Pure nostalgia. I remember being overawed when the programme first came to our screens. Now having the facility to watch the entire series again has not disappointed. It was just as awe inspiring, perhaps more so as the world has changed a lot in the past twenty years. The outback is a part of Australia the conventional tourist does not often see, so to be transported to the small town of Coopers Crossing with all its surrounding wide open spaces, quaint shops and its people is a pure delight. The scenery is both majestic and spectacular which forms a vital part of the shows content. The narratives of the Flying Doctors and the characters within those stories bring drama, pathos, emotion, love and excitement to a wonderful series. I can not praise this production highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flying Doctors Series ! 30 April 2009
The "Flying Doctors" is (for me at least), a positively addictive series. I cannot get enough of it. Way back I even rang the distributors in London to ask them if it was ever going to be issued in English on DVD - it has long been available in German on video. But there is nothing like the original Aussie accent!
It is a wonderful mixture of "doctors" and "rough cowboys", with baddies and goodies, and addresses a great many human problems - including prejudices against the aborigines, family strifes of all kinds - and has wonderful, sometimes very funny characters.
I am very much looking forward to the second series!
I only wish that the same thing could happen to "Rafferty's Rules"!

The Flying Doctors DVD'S are some of the best tv that have ever hit our screens.
