4.0 out of 5 stars Good Writing Info 11 May 2009
Format:Paperback
This book provides writing exercises if you want them, but for me the general text makes one or two excellent points. And if nothing else the book was worth buying for thesealone. The most important point: five minutes writing each day is preferable to two hours at the weekend. The brain gets trained to think up creatively at a moments notice. Another is write what you know. This, of course, is well known but Margaret Geraghty points to the passion aspect of what you know and feel. Write with and about your own passion and the writing will flow well.

Its a reference book, one to dip into for inspiration. Good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changes not only how you write...but think. 22 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book on a whim, hoping to obtain some creative genius to help me write. I was pleasantly surprised by how much it helped me in my time of great need to achieve ideas and comfort me in my period of writers block.
Outstanding work by Geraghty...I attribute (hopefully) my success in the future.
A must for firstime writers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Exercises 22 Dec 2008
Format:Paperback
Highly Recommended - short sections offering food for thought followed by writing exercises. The exercises in almost all cases inspired me to either write good sections for current work, produce new ideas, or get excellent insights into my characters. A must read for would be writers!

Yes, it has some good ideas, but overall not a book I would recommend for help with novel writing. There is better stuff out there.
