First Sentence
'When evil doers had sprung up like weeds, and wicked men ravaged the vineyard of the lord like thorn bushes and briars choking the harvest, the abbots and bishops and other holy men decided to call a council at which confiscations (praeda) would be forbidden, what had been taken unjustly from the churches would be restored, and other blemishes on the face of the holy church of God scraped away with the sharp blade of anathema. Read the first page
