Product Description

Matt Kearns and the remnants of the scientific team return to a ravaged America. Modern medicine has failed to halt the spread of the flesh-consuming parasite, and humans have been forced to hide, even from each other.

The infected roam the cities and suburbs of a ruined nation. But the devastating effects on human physiology are only the beginning. Something has been let loose, something that the team were not prepared for – human nature itself.

Matt and Carla must make it back to the CDC headquarters, crossing the apocalyptic countryside that proves every bit as dangerous and deadly as the South American jungle. The race is on to test their eradication cure, before their world suffers the same fate as that of the giant saurians of prehistory.

But there is something they don't count on – the solution has a high price. If they don't use the cure it means the end of mankind, but what if the remedy is worse than the disease?

This is a novella-length episode of The First Bird. To read the full story, check out The First Bird: Omnibus Edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final part of trilogy ups the ante again!! 17 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Whilst in part two of this trilogy we left America and took a trip into a forgotten world in an attempt to discover the parasite's origin and a means of control, in the background was the ever present thought of America and the parasitic development left behind...I don't believe any of the team expected the complete apocalyptic scenario that greets them..sure they are aware of the parasites completely exponential spread and aggressiveness but to be confronted with the reality and the massive contrast to Peru and the jungle is almost too much for the brain to comprehend..this is almost their downfall as they fail to adequately assess their surroundings and the new developments,Beck adds new twists keeping the trilogy fresh and exciting culminating in the final...definitely found a new favourite author who raises the bar, fresh inventive gruesome excitement all the way!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific conclusion. 24 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The final part of The First Bird is one huge race against time that doesn't allow time for dawdling.

The clock is ticking to prevent the end of humanity and only a select few can make this happen.

Heroism, sacrifice, action and some pretty grim scenes combine to give us a frenetically charged page-turner.

Greig Beck is a fantastic adventure / thriller writer. Pure class.
