Fantastic and up to date text about Bordeaux~ 15 Dec 2013
By Christopher Barrett - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Fine Wine Editions has published some great periodicals and books in recent years. This book is a very fine edition to any wine lover's library. The book was written by James, Lawther, a Master of Wine.

This book is a collection of the famous and up and coming estates of Bordeaux, France. This also includes Sauternes and other appellations beyond the famous left and right bank regions of the Medoc and Libourne. The first fifty or so pages cover the history and laws of the region. Beyond is a listing of famed estates, typically containing one page of text and a full page photo. A few entries have more text, some have additional photos.

This isn't quite the exhaustive text that many in depth Bordeaux books are (such as the two Mitchell Beazley texts), but the photos are a nice touch to break up the text. Included is much information relevant to those interested in, or studying Bordeaux. There is typically a mention of fine recent vintages from each estate and information about additional wines they produce (second and third labels).

I highly recommend this book for any lover of Bordeaux, or those wishing to learn a little more about the region and the notable producers. Curl up with this book and a glass of your favorite claret!

This was recommended by our cruise line prior to a river cruise in France. The book is beautiful, informative and entertaining. It is a must have for anyone truly interested in wines and/or the Bordeaux region.
