Someone, somewhere at some time dreamed up the plot for this film. Coherence, realism and depth of character are all sacrificed on the altar of the wierdism as this delves into an acidic kaleidoscope of steamy asian sex. Naked bodies, splicing fingers, exploration of orifices and lots of coupling. All done within the limits of the 1970's, this is one sick puppy that needs a final stroke to bring it to a climax.
It shifts from the surreal, to the grotesque with a strong pro woman message, in a land where women are both worshipped and horse whipped within everyday culture. The film follows a woman's quest for revenge after being violated.
So if you have over an hour to Kill Bill, then grab a whole lotta this, as a revenge movie this makes the hi grade, as plumes of smoke arise to heaven. It has a great deal to offer as it explores fetishism, power addiction, heroin addiction has some truly shocking moments locked within it. It also plunges its sword into the macho worlds of the Yakuza and formal Japanese etiquette whilst delivering a plinth to gaze a young women's bodies.
The musical soundtrack is Morriconesque except filtered through a Japanese sensibility.
Combine the two, pictures and sounds and you get a strange brew
