This is a well-written, accessible book about how to lose weight OR how to just have a healthy diet without resorting to obsessive calorie counting or weird fad diets that ban whole food groups (I KNOW Atkins works for people, but it fills me with all kinds of horror).
The excerpts from the author's diary, plus the quotations from other users of the diet, are a great addition to the clear explanations of the theory behind the diet, and there's a lot of helpful information about how to approach the "fast" days.
I also loved that the author named the days "fast" and "feast" (rather than having "feed" days). The fast days, when you eat around 500 calories, are hard work (although not as hard work as I thought they'd be). But the feast days, when you eat more or less what, and how much, you like, end up being a wonderful celebration of food.
I've lost weight successfully before by calorie counting, but this way of doing it is significantly easier, and actually feels like a lot more fun.
I'd like the author to publish her whole diary as a supplement to this book--she writes very engagingly and I think it would be a fun and inspiring read for people beginning the diet!
