Having bought this book as a decent medium pacer who has always struggled getting the extra yard of pace whilst still maintaining accuracy, I must say this is as close as many will get to some high level coaching.
Many of the 'old and trusted ' methods the author talks about have been conveyed to myself during my younger days as a youth/colt at Durham and although some worked a treat, others did me no favours at all.
This book breaks with the convention of most of the coaching I have received during my playing and has some interesting new ideas and some things I honestly do think work.
I have tried most of the coaching in the book to do with driving my front hip into my front knee and have found this to show an instant difference. Only a small one, but noticeable all the same.
I would recommend this book for any one wanting to improve their bowling, it won't give us the pace of Harmison or the accuracy of McGrath but I have noticed a difference in my bowling pace during winter nets.
For the sake of a tenner, it's worth a try over the winter net season!
