There is a suitable time or place to listen to any music and this CD deserves to be appreciated at high volume when your senses are fully awake (or perhaps need awakening) !
'Lady Gaga' is a clearly talented singer/performer (I've seen TV broadcasts of her live at Glastonbury to know that to be true - she wears outlandish costumes, 'dances', plays instruments as well as composing the majority of her material) and there is a good range of songs on offer on this album to enjoy her vocal quality and musical 'energy' to it's best.
Things get off to a great start with the powerful 'Let's Dance' and it's pretty much full-throttle from then on; my favourites are 'Poker Face' on the album and 'Paparazzi' (although it is better performed live). It's not just her voice that helps to make these songs so enjoyable of course, the largely synthesised supporting music is also excellent and of a style unusual/defined enough to prevent the tracks becoming unforgettable or difficult to distinguish from other modern music.
The reproduction quality of this CD is flawless and there's nearly an hour of music to enjoy; the UK-edition I own has 16 tracks and some good online bonus content (an extra track, downloadable videos and wallpaper images) but I found the live video offered was unavailable for download - although it is available 'elsewhere'...
Even the CD packaging is a classy-affair, with a chunky/'curvy' jewel case and an informative booklet including plenty of photos of the 'Lady' herself.
I am too old to be in disco's or nightclubs where Lady Gaga tracks might be played, but I can imagine how good the experience might be; playing this album loud on my home hi-fi is a good substitute !
