1.0 out of 5 stars Awful 12 Oct 2007
Format:DVD
Awful, truely awful. I enjoy war films and made the mistake of buying this film. I have a sizeable collection of war films and have the patience of letting a plot unravel. This film is painful to watch, the wooden acting and 'make it up as you go' plot adds to a miserable watch. I can only imagine that the historical consultant was a borrowed gcse student on an easter break.

This is the first time i have felt incensed to write a review and hopefully i'll never have to watch another terrible film like this to feel i have to write another one. Stay away!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Fallen - Worst movie EVER ! 13 Sep 2007
Format:DVD
I've never felt compelled to write a review of a movie before, but this one is so shockingly bad I feel the need to ensure that no-one else wastes their money on it.

I love WW2 movies, and I can sit through some fairly dire films, but this one takes the biscuit. So what's bad about it specifically; It's poorly acted, has truly terrible sound editing and a music score that's way off the mark. The plot just meanders around attempting to convey some kind of a message and fails miserably. We are even treated to characters being introduced then dissappearing without explanation as to why they were there in the first place.

However, there are 2 points about this film that enable me to give it at least one star.
1. The acting of the German commander was pretty good. Almost certainly because he was a German actor and couldn't understand the director, so just ignored him and got on with it.
2. The 'Making of' feature on the DVD. It's quite funny and shocking to see Ari Taub trying to give excuses as to why this film is so bad. Everything from actors larking around and being written out halfway through, to poor camera maintenance and even the crew setting fire to their lodgings whilst on location.

Do not get suckered in by the favourable comparison to Saving Private Ryan or that it won some kind of award. Avoid The Fallen at all costs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable it says on the box.. 17 Dec 2007
Format:DVD
..Yes truly remarkable. Remarkable that a film this bad gets even a straight to DVD release. Remarkable that someone could compare this film to 'Ryan and even more remarkable that anyone could write a 5 star review of it and expect to be taken seriously - even if you are the director's boyfriend. What a waste of a trip to Blockbusters that was. If you're looking for something different give When Trumpets Fade a go - that's good low budget made for tv stuff.
