Whilst not a raging feminist, I like to see strong female lead characters in books other than chick-lit, and this one ticks all the boxes. The characters are likeable and convincing, and the storyline is fast paced, keeping me hooked. I liked the fact that the outcome wasn't blindingly obvious; there were reasons to keep questioning the outcome right up until the end.

A very good debut novel with believable characters and a decent storyline. When I first started reading this, I did wonder whether anyone could really be as dippy as Charlotte but as the book went on I changed my opinion of her as her character grew in strength. I thought Keisha was extremely well written - showing her softer side as well as the hard gritty persona. Telling the story from three narratives worked well and you got a good feel for the character. The book held my attention well until I got to the middle - I did find it lost pace for a while but it then it picked up again towards the end.

My feelings were that it was a very good book - although not great, however I'm sure this author is destined for much success based on this debut and I would certainly read another of her books in the future.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't up there with the best of all time but it's certainly been a good read and at times I really wasn't sure what was going to happen next. It's a prime example of how things can get out of hand very quickly in life and it's how you react to them that matters. I would recommend it.
