Book Description

A Fantasy Romance Novella from the author of A Cowboy For Christmas, More Than Memories and Embers of Hope.

Sometimes size does matter…

Stephen couldn’t walk by the old pirate, outnumbered and losing a fight. Of course he had to help. He didn’t expect a ‘thank you’ for saving the Captain’s life, and he sure didn’t expect a gift, especially a gift like this! How could it be fairies are real, and yet he had no idea?

She is so beautiful… and so tiny. There’s no reason to stick together, except that Trisha might need his help, at least for the time being to stay safe. Besides, she can help him find his brother. But when they track him down, they must rescue him, and a secret comes out. The pirates want their fairy back and his brother is mixed up in the mess of it.

Everyone wants to find that special one, but “Phen” and Trisha both know they’re dreaming. How can they make a love like this work? And that’s a question for when their lives aren’t in danger.

Kristen James is the author of many romance novels and other novellas, including A Spy for Christmas and Special Ops Christmas, coming December 2012.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better 11 Jun. 2012

I thought this story had a good plot and could have been great but it wasn't developed enough. The characters weren't developed and I didn't connect with them, I know this was only a short story but I still think it is important that readers can relate to the characters. Parts of the story felt and I would have liked some more depth overall, this could definitely be developed into a longer and perhaps full length story.

However, the author is still young and she obviously has a great imagination and talent and I wish her all the best for her future writing career

3.0 out of 5 stars A giant story line in a fairy sized novella 11 Dec. 2011

Stephen (Phen) is on his travels looking for his wayward brother when he saves the life of a pirate and is rewarded with Trisha, a tiny fairy. During their quest to find Phen's brother Eric (who just happens to have stolen a magic necklace) and evading the pirates that inexplicably want Trisha back, the little fairy is morphing to human size to get friendly with Phen.

This is a very short fantasy romance tale that would have worked far better as a longer novel. The characters are likeable, but there isn't enough time for them to develop much depth plus there is no budding romance; one moment Phen thinks Trisha has nice eyes, the next they are naked in a waterfall. I was also a little bewildered as to why the pirates were hunting for Trisha; all they want is a full size woman that can keep them company, yet when the chase begins they have no idea Trisha can change her size. The action works well, but there is a little too much adventure stuffed into the plot. There are some good ideas and some sweet moments but ultimately "The Fairy and Her Giant" is a little jumbled, a tad rushed and concentrates a little too much on introducing ideas than fleshing out the characters.

Short sweet tale of a fairy called Trisha, who has been kept in a cage by pirates, but who is given to Stephen/Stephan? when he saves the life of the pirate captain.

He's searching for his brother, having lost all of his family, and seemingly knows nothing about the existence of fairies in his 'world'. She would like to find others like herself, as she realises that she is falling for her captive, who will eventually marry a woman of his kind...

But not is all as it seems, as she has magic powers that Tinkerbelle hasn't, so she gets to romance her man, whilst having an adventure at the same time, trying to save his brother and keep a step or few ahead of the pirates.

Short, sweet and lovely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining 14 Dec. 2011

This is not for young adults; sex. "The Fairy" is a really short story (10 min to read) that showcases Kristen James' writing ability. There is action from the beginning and then a chase by pirates culminating into a wish being granted. Since it was so short, there are no expectations for character depth or real plot, but it does provide evidence that James is a good writer.

Phen (Stephen) "wins" Trisha, a tiny fairy, from an old pirate he just helped escape being beat to a pulp. Phen is searching for his wayward younger brother and Trisha becomes his love interest quickly. Though she never showed the pirates, Trisha can become human size for small amounts of time, which she does with Phen. A very abruptly written "encounter" between these two have them pining for more time at equal heights. Phen's brother is discovered as a prisoner of the pirates who are now after Phen and Trisha. An escape ensues....

Kristen James is someone I might read again. This story was distracting because of the editing. The wrong but similar word would be used like "starting" for "staring" or "closet" instead of "closest". I never take off stars for bad editing, just mentioning it for those to whom it bothers.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a Gift! 28 Dec. 2011
By Jo Ann Hakola - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This whole adventure started when Stephen stepped in and stopped the crowd from beating up the old, sick pirate. He was just being kind; he never expected any reward. He certainly didn't expect to get handed a fairy!

You can get a copy of this ebook from Amazon right now. I snagged it as a free copy when it was offered because I've read other books by this author and she always writes good tales.

Trisha is very tiny and very pretty. The first thing Stephen does is get her out of the ugly cage she's incarcerated in.

After a meal and a good sleep, he then continues his search for his brother. His brother likes to wander and Stephen always goes to find him and takes him home again. One thing Stephen hadn't counted on was that his brother would join the band of pirates and steal a necklace from the captain. Soon he and Trish are running for their lives.

Trish soon names Stephen "Phen" and they find that they are attracted to each other. Trish can become bigger for a short time, but it doesn't last.

This is a short novella that is fun to read. It's a light tale that will amuse you. Can love prevail with pirates on their tail and the size problem? You'll have to read it and see.

Happy reading.

I have always been interested in the giant tiny genre, books, TV, movies, etc, this was right up my alley. My favorite part was when they first meet and he picks her up in his hand. I also think the cover looks neat.
