I bought this book purely because of the illustrations (I am an art student) and I absolutely love it. Jan Pienkowski's work is amazing and I never tire of looking at it. I have also just ordered his new book - The Thousand Nights and One Night

This takes me back... 20 April 2007

I owned this book as a child but it was lost over time. I was so happy to see it has been republished, and am enjoying reading the stories to my daughter. The illustrations by Jan Pienkowski have a dreamlike quality that I love. This hardback version with its gilt-edged pages would make a super present for a lover of traditional fairy tales or their offspring !!

If you appreciate an excellent drawings, clever composition and dark fairy tale images then this is a book for you.
It is a wonderful book, very arty and will let your child's imagination blossom.
An unusual gift as well, one of the books that we treasure for long time.
