Product Description

Sixteen-year-old Maggie Winters can’t think of anything more exciting than junior year. There’s her first prom to look forward to, she can drive, and most important Connor Prince has finally noticed her. But unfortunately so has the school snob, Katrina Melville, who goes out of her way to make Maggie’s life a living hell. If that’s not enough, Maggie’s grandma has decided to retire, which doesn’t seem like such a big deal. That is until she finds out her grandma is a Fairy Godmother, and not just any Fairy Godmother. The Fairy Godmother, as in Cinderella, pumpkins, and mice. And she has informed Maggie that she’s next in line to become the new Fairy Godmother.

At first Maggie is excited, the whole getting wings, flying (or rather trying not to crash), and a wand that let’s her grant wishes. It’s like being a superhero, without all the action, explosions, and spandex. Then she gets her first assignment, Katrina Melville, her nemesis. And if that doesn’t make her want to poof herself into oblivion, she finds out that part of Katrina’s happily-ever-after is Connor Prince. Life is so unfair. Even worse, she can’t tell her two best friends about any of it and they’re getting sick of her disappearing acts. Then there are the dangerous creatures, called Grimms who will stop at nothing to keep the happy endings from being fulfilled, even if it means destroying the Fairy Godmother responsible. With time running out, Maggie has to make this wish come true or it will ruin the fates of everyone involved, and open the world to darkness beyond imagination. Maggie will soon find out what it truly means to be a Fairy Godmother—and it isn’t all about princes, gowns, and wings, but something much more

Rebekah blends humour, romance and drama into a terrific plot with brilliant characters and the result is unputdownable. I enjoyed this book from start to finish, absolutely loved Maggie (and Seth)and can't wait for the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait for the Sequel! 8 May 2012
By scribblesonthebackofjanuary - Published on Amazon.com

Maggie is hoping her junior year will be the best year yet, but her hopes are dashed on the very first day when the school mean girl targets her as the victim of displaced anger.

Add to that the family secret she discovers at her grandmother's retirement party, leaving Maggie with no choice but to take over for her grandmother as the newest...fairy godmother-wings, wand, and all-and her prime directive is to make sure all her assignments get their "happy ever after".

Easier said than done.

Her first mission turns out to be none other than her nemesis, mean girl Katrina Melville. But naturally, the indignation doesn't stop there. Kat's HEA includes the one guy Maggie has been crushing on since puberty hit, school hottie Connor Prince.

To top it all off, her new responsibilities require to disappear at a moment's notice (literally) to answer every beck and call of the assigned prima donna. And Maggie's friends don't take very kindly to being ditched in the middle of bonding time. So much for junior year being the best yet.

This was exceptionally well written. The story was engaging from the very beginning and it had everything you could want: romance, action, suspense, love triangles, evil stepmother, monsters... And of course, it sets up for a continuing story at the end. I did think it was a little strange that while her "knight"/body guard received ongoing training for his job, Maggie herself received none. Of course, that just added to the humor when her spells kept going wrong, and to the suspense when she ran into the evil Grimms-so not necessarily a bad thing.

The dialogue between the characters is so well-timed and well-written it gives a great sense of the characters and the age group. The sibling rivalry and the anger towards the father (I hated that guy) for the way he was treating Maggie and her brother were both funny and realistic. Loved the character interaction.

I laughed out loud throughout this whole book. So many funny lines and lots of physical comedy. Great for young adult and adult readers alike. It's a clean read, but there are some older themes, so I wouldn't recommend for younger than high school age.

5.0 out of 5 stars When Fairytales Come True.... 21 Mar 2012
By Multi Genre Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
....it can sometimes be a nightmare! For Maggie, life turns upside down when she realizes two things: fairytales are real and she's got a lot to do with them. This is a great story that mixes fantasy with reality in a very magical way. The characters are believable, the situations hilarious, and the end result charming! It's got all the right ingredients for a Happily Ever After with a twist! Purdy's writing is so refreshing and humorous it actually makes you WANT to go back to high school. It will keep you turning the pages and burning the midnight oil. Don't miss this one!
