Product Description

Product Description

This is the true story of an ordinary man determined to avoid an ordinary life. His solution? To become an entrepreneur, exploiting a talent for turning almost anything into a business opportunity. However, as each new venture starts to go wrong, success slips away as fast as it arrives. He responds to misfortune with a resilient sense of humour, but is his misfortune self-inflicted? Should we admire his courage and effort or condemn his mistakes?

Narrated with a bittersweet blend of humour and honesty, The Failed Entrepreneur offers a tantalising insight into the entrepreneurial spirit. As you follow the story’s twists and turns, you are drawn into a world of unbearable frustrations and impossible decisions. And you start to realise how perceptions of business failure can influence the way we judge each other. But in a culture that often values winning ahead of trying this is also an optimistic story, and one that could completely change the way you think about success and failure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read 21 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a really surprising book; you should get it! I was looking up business tycoon biographies and came across this by accident. Something made me buy it, and I'm so glad I did! It's a really good story in itself, and the author has a very refreshing and natural style. Sometimes the humour is quite dark, but then so are some of the situations he finds himself in. And it's one of those books that stays in your mind when you put it down and after you've finished it. I am recommending it to my friends because I want to discuss it with them when they've read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves to be a hit 22 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A friend recommended this to me and I can only thank her! For 99p this has got to be a real bargain. It's a warm, funny and thought-provoking account of one man's struggles to get by in a world where you are judged on your successes, not on how good a person you are.
The Failed Entrepreneur made me think long and hard about how shallow and materialistic a society we have become. And how people, like the author, who dare to try again after crippling failure are often seen as losers, as people to be avoided rather than championed or encouraged.
The style is immediate and very easy to read and the whole thing is written with humour and honesty.
In an age where we're obsessed with 'reality' TV and celebrity lifestyles, try The Failed Entrepreneur for an antidote. Like me, you won't regret it. Instead, you'll be raving about it to all your friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars That's the spirit! 5 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Bought as a holiday read, got so enthralled in it that I had got to the end in a day! I'm a business owner and so found some of the experiences very close to home. Sometimes you wonder if his luck will ever change. Sometimes you wonder if it's for real but in all honesty I don't think you could make it up!
Great book, Leaves you wanting more (and a follow up)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down 20 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't know why I bought this book. It's certainly not my usual read. But I couldn't put it down. It's well written and the story line is addictive. More importantly I felt a real connection with the authors feelings. I would love to meet and talk to this guy. I think he should do after dinner speaking as his next venture. Perhaps he should give talks at schools as an antidote to the usual path they set everyone on.
